Southern Glazer’s Using AI to Adopt to Changing Market

Southern Glazer’s Using AI to Adopt to Changing Market   Artificial intelligence is expected to reshape the wine industry with data-driven tools streamlining viticulture, cellar operations, consumer sales, and marketing. How this takes shape remains to be seen but this week the largest alcohol distributor in the United States issued a news release about a restructuring involving 219 roles with a hybrid customer service model using AI as it adapt s to a changing market. AI is a topic we all have our eye on. The Wine Market Council, in partnership with WineBusiness Monthly, recently completed its second AI in the U.S. Wine Industry Survey. Results indicate the industry moved from an exploratory phase in 2024 to an early integration phase in 2026. Look for the report in the September issue. For additional insights on how the distribution landscape is evolving, see last week’s Business of Drinks podcast with Mark Chaplin, President, Commercial Sales at Southern Glazer’s. This week’s most popular story was Sarah Brown’s report highlighting the most recent Wine Market Council research about what wine consumers want.
